Autumn Self Care

Published by Julie Anne Byrne on

Self-care is giving the world the best of you instead of what’s left of you” ~ Katie Reed

Self-care activities are the things you do to maintain good health and improve your well-being, so this Autumn take a little time out with the following exercises;

The trees are about to show us just how beautiful it is to let go…write down what you want to let go of this season.

Unplug yourself from the world, go on a nature walk and enjoy walking among the fallen leaves.

Slow down…look around at nature’s beauty and check in with yourself and your feelings.

Embrace the Danish act of hygge,  the art of coziness. Hygge is all the things that make you feel warm and cozy.

Light a scented candle and curl up with your favourite read with some warm socks and jumpers on.

Settle in front of a blazing fire (if you have one) and watch your favourite movie while sipping a pumpkin spiced beverage.

I love autumn but you just made me love it that much more. I live in Colorado now and the Aspens are just starting to turn their magnificent yellow. I did what you recommended yesterday and took a long but beautiful hiking up into the Mount Evans Wilderness area. The trail followed a gorgeous stream flowing down out of the Rockies and the Aspens were just starting to change colors. I met 12 hikers along the way and everyone was so kind on the trail.

There were several times on the trail that I just sat down and watched and listened to the sounds of nature. It was one of the most beautiful days I have hiking this year.

Thank you for reminding us to take time to enjoy what is all around us.

Oh WOW Rick that sounds fantastic, I live quite near to the foot of the Dublin mountains and so there are lots of forests to explore, while the trees always look so nice during full leaf bloom in the summer the real treat is seeing all the different colours when the autumn come and the leaves start to fall.  Nothing nicer than walking through a rainbow of leaves.

Every season has so much to offer us it’s up to us to make the most of what is freely on show 🙂

I love the title, “Autumn, the year’s last loveliest smile”, very poetic 🙂 I agree that self care activities basically lead to giving the world the best of you. If you take care of yourself, spoil or pamper yourself, you will feel better about yourself and project that to the world. You give some great suggestions here. Last night I watched a French comedy on Netflix with a yummy dinner and a hot cup of chai tea. It was really nice. I was spoiling myself. Today is about work, but at the end of the day I’ll do something else to pamper myself 🙂

And maybe I should write down what I want to let go of this season. I want to let go of impatience, that’s one of them.

Thanks Christine I’m glad that this post resonated with you, good to hear you are already loving yourself, it is really so important and should be done on a daily basis.

That’s a good start with the letting go topic, but as you can see impatient, is simply I’m Patient 🙂

Witnessing Autumn is just another opportunity to seek a celestial life where one can interact with nature and get rid of every negative feelings that is depriving us of a unique self care.

There are many things I want to work on in this coming Autumn. I must say this article is specifically made for me. Lols. Self care is something we must all have in order to have a fulfilled and productive life.

Self care is when we walk alone and start reflecting on so many life affairs. This is how I find solutions to many of my bothering thoughts.

I agree Stella we really should embrace every opportunity to become one with nature as it is there we can truly re-charge our batteries away from the strife of life.

Maybe choose something different either from the list above or something that you will enjoy and try using that as your self-care method for a few weeks, I’m sure you will reap the rewards and discover hopefully something new to add to your list while doing so.

Beware of the thoughts in your head, they are just that thoughts!  You can choose to ignore them or heed them, make sure they are worthwhile if you do heed them. Wishing all the very best, Julie Anne

Love this article about autumn self care.  The fall is my favorite time of year, a time to let go of what is not needed while embracing the next challenging adventure.  Your post has reminded me how fleeting this season is, how important it is to enjoy everyday and really embrace the daily changes that we see sometimes dramatic and sometimes very subtle. Love the reference to Hygge, I have just learned about that this summer and can’t wait to put it in practice this winter.  Thanks for underscoring what’s really important.

Hi and thanks for leaving a comment, delighted my post has given you food for thought, this Autumnal season is so spectacular with it’s array of colours it’s hard not to embrace it.

Hygge is probably something we all do or have done without even realising it, and to my mind it will help make winter more endurable if it is part of my daily life 🙂
